Special Education Teacher – School-Based Services Location: Kansas City, MO Schedule: School-Based | Daytime Hours Pay: $35–$45 per hour Position Overview Special Education Teachers in this school-based role help create inclusive learning environments where students with diverse needs can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This position supports students with mild to moderate disabilities through curriculum adaptation and individualized instruction, while also delivering core academic and foundational instruction for students with more intensive needs. The teacher works closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to implement strategies that support student progress and success. Key Responsibilities Adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with student learning goals. Provide academic and foundational instruction to students with varying levels of support needs. Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support student achievement. Implement classroom strategies aligned with IEP goals and district expectations. Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality of student information. Resources and guidance for instructional planning and classroom management. Requirements Experience as a Special Education Teacher. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in Exceptional Student Education or Special Education preferred. Active General Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement in the state of Missouri. Strong organizational and instructional planning skills. Ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learning needs. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto liability insurance.
